Mental health disorders are a wide range of conditions that affect your mood, behavior, and thinking. Untreated mental health symptoms can negatively impact an individual’s life including how they view their life’s journey. There are various areas of one’s life that can be negatively affected such as interpersonal relationships, family dynamics, and the inability to view self from a positive aspect.
Mental Health Treatment
I provided individual services that treat the presenting problem. Treating mental health symptoms often includes co-occurring disorder which are treated simultaneously. Therapeutic styles consist of cognitive behavioral therapy, experiential therapy, and reality therapy. Subsequent calls are usually conducted as needed in between sessions. Therapeutic assignments and referrals to alternative therapy enhances successful treatment outcomes and is considered a structured part of each session. Treating mental health disorders is not unilateral, but multi-faceted.
Understanding Treatment for Mental Health Diagnosis and Substance Abuse
Historically substance abuse and mental health disorders were treated separately and were considered two different types of syndromes. Many individuals recovered from substance abuse but were never treated for their mental health symptoms. This was found to be a significant risk for relapse, therefore, the treatment of substance abuse and mental health simultaneously is considered the most effective practice. Individual therapy is designed to fully treat your overall symptoms and not just your disorder. This includes focusing on the continuity of care.
